Doonside Technology High School is a co-educational Years 7–12 inclusive high school with a strong focus on explicit teaching strategies and comprehensive wellbeing structures. In 2026, the school has 700 students. The student population is highly diverse: 18% identify as Aboriginal, and 29% come from a background where English is an additional language or dialect. The Support Unit provides for 74 students with mild, moderate and severe intellectual disabilities. The school proudly celebrates this diversity and ensures all students are actively included in every aspect of school life.

Wellbeing and student learning support remain central to the school's strategic directions. Programs such as the Berry Street Education Model, Life Education, RoSA@Work, the Learning Support Hub, and Wellbeing Hub have been recognised with Secretary and Minister's Awards, reflecting their positive impact on student engagement, wellbeing and retention. The school has recently been acknowledged for its work in Explicit Teaching through the CESE Illustration of Practice. Additionally, DTHS has been recognised as the most improved public school over the past decade, with the highest growth in average HSC results in NSW.

In 2025, Doonside Technology High School completed External Validation, where it was deemed to be excelling in 13 of the 14 elements of the School Excellence Framework. This achievement reflects the school's commitment to delivering individualised, high-quality teaching and learning, underpinned by genuine relationships and a strong sense of belonging.

Specific Selection Criteria

* Approval to teach Autism (Secondary), and/or experience teaching children with mild to moderate intellectual disability (MIS & MOS).
* Quality classroom practice and highly developed management skills which enhance student engagement through enriched, differentiated, and individualised learning programs.
* Demonstrated capacity to contribute positively to the Support Unit Faculty and effectively collaborate to support the holistic development of students.

Conditions

Unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
