Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland.
The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
QFES is one department with many services, many capabilities and many partners.
Purpose of roleICT Portfolio Management is responsible for leading and managing the provision of the systematic management of QFES ICT investments, governance, portfolio, projects, and assurance activities to support QFES operations and organisational capability.
The ICT Project Delivery team is responsible for supporting progress of all ICT projects within QFES including assurance, consolidation of project reporting, costs management, schedule tracking and deliverable outcomes.
Ensuring all projects deliver within the QFES project management framework utilising the QFES project delivery templates.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team responsible for analysing business needs, issues and ICT problems, leading stakeholder engagement, and working with business partners to review, develop and document processes and procedures to achieve business and technology solutions that align with industry best practice and meet the requirements, whilst ensuring they are consolidated and consistent across the department.
Key requirementsHighly desirable requirements Knowledge and/or experience in project management methodologies.
Experience with business process modelling and other relevant methodologies.
Your key accountabilitiesYour part in the ongoing success of our department in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: Undertake research and analysis activities to determine and document business processes and requirements, and recommend improvements to processes, procedures and/or information systems.
Develop business processes and improvement strategies utilising appropriate modelling techniques to assist in the development of end-to-end service mappings and best practice ICT solutions.
Review system design and project development deliverables against requirements and participate in quality assurance activities to ensure successful implementation and operation within the department.
Perform business analysis by developing an understanding of the business needs of clients to ensure technical deliverables meet user acceptance criteria, useability and general "fitness for purpose".
Prepare comprehensive, timely and accurate documentation, briefings, reports and submissions on a range of complex issues to support evidence-based decision making.
Develop, liaise and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure governance for business solutions is maintained and project deliverables meet the requirements.
Represent the department on various forums with a view to promoting innovation, performance improvement and service delivery.
