The Role

As a Key Account Manager - Metcash you will build strong, long‐term professional relationships with your customers and help both sides grow together. You become the go‐to person, someone who understands what the customer needs, drives and ensures the business delivers on it.

This is a 12‐month fixed‐term contract based in our brand‐new North Sydney office, conveniently located close to public transport. This role will use data and insights to make smarter decisions, improve results and spot new opportunities. A big part of the role is also working closely with different teams internally, having the right conversations and sometimes tough negotiations so we can deliver great outcomes for both our customers and the business.

Principle Accountabilities

* Strategic account leadership: Build trusted, long‐term partnerships with key accounts and lead joint business planning to align customer goals with company strategy, including category growth, promotions and innovation.
* Commercial ownership & negotiation: Own and deliver P&L targets (revenue, margin, volume), lead trading term negotiations and adapt plans to respond to market and customer needs.
* Growth & market insight: Identify and unlock growth opportunities through category insights, new product launches, range reviews and a strong understanding of market trends and competitor activity.
* Relationship management & collaboration: Maintain strong cross‐functional relationships with customer stakeholders and internal teams, ensuring seamless execution and high levels of customer engagement.
* Data‐driven execution & operations: Leverage data and analytics to inform decisions, track performance against KPIs, optimise forecasting and supply and ensure strong in‐store execution and campaign delivery.

Skills and Experience Required

* Strategic thinking & account management: Proven ability to build and grow long‐term customer partnerships, develop joint business plans and create strategic account plans that drive sustainable growth.
* Commercial acumen & negotiation: Strong understanding of P&L management, with experience delivering revenue and margin targets and leading both strategic and tactical negotiations.
* Market insight & analytical capability: Ability to leverage data and insights (e.g. Nielsen, IRI, Power BI) to identify trends, uncover opportunities and translate insights into actionable plans.
* Relationship building & influencing: Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and collaborate effectively across customer contacts and internal cross‐functional teams.
* Operational excellence & execution: Experience managing end‐to‐end account execution, including forecasting, supply coordination, in‐store activation and performance tracking against key KPIs.
