Work Capacity Specialist – Self Insurance

DXC Technology's Insurance Software and BPS (ISB) helps insurers modernise and run their core operations at scale by combining deep industry expertise, proven software platforms, and innovative AI‐driven solutions. As a Work Capacity Specialist you will directly shape how insurers operate by transforming policy, underwriting, and claims systems.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Make legislatively compliant work capacity decisions affecting weekly benefits.
* Assess and interpret medical and vocational evidence to determine capacity, suitable employment, and earning ability.
* Ensure procedural fairness and clear communication with stakeholders.
* Conduct ongoing reviews and reassessments of work capacity decisions.
* Manage internal reviews and dispute escalation processes.
* Maintain strong governance, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance.
* Align work‐capacity assessment processes with organisational objectives, driving consistent and efficient decision‐making.
* Translate strategic and operational plans into practical work‐capacity and claims‐related action plans, monitoring progress and ensuring timely, quality completion.
* Identify, analyse, and enhance work‐capacity and entitlement processes to improve decision quality, compliance, and overall claims performance.
* Support the streamlining and optimisation of work‐capacity and assessment processes to reduce delays, improve efficiency, and strengthen the quality and defensibility of decisions.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, frameworks, and strategies in collaboration with technical and continuous improvement teams.
* Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members and stakeholders to uplift capability in work‐capacity decision‐making.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, nursing, or a related field is desirable.
* Understanding of Workers Compensation legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
* Strong knowledge of governing standards of practice, including agent remuneration drivers.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Highly developed self‐management and organisation skills.
* Ability to drive continuous improvement, adapt to change, and think laterally.
* Strong analytical, problem‐solving, and decision‐making skills.
* Effective consultation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
* Customer service focus and relationship‐building ability.
