The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations is seeking experienced technical writer to join our team. The team is responsible for providing a wide range of digital services to support the business and operating environment of the department. These roles represent an exciting opportunity for technical writer to join one of our multidisciplinary teams.
We are seeking a Technical Writer to produce the required technical, system, testing, reporting, and security documentation; to quality review such documentation from our system; and to assist with the preparation of the necessary technical, security business and project artefacts.
This role is for an IT practitioner with practical experience, who can interpret technical solutions into technical and business documentation.
Key responsibilities including but not limited:
- Produce and review the required technical, system, testing, reporting, and training documentation.
- Production and review of QA documentation - software test plans and reports, defect reports
- Production and review of project artefacts including project plans, and documentation appropriate to the project management and software development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile sprints, etc).
- Production and review of user documentation - instructional and technical manuals, assessments, installation guides, user manuals and training guides.
- Production and review of systems documentation - product and process documentation appropriate to the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including architecture specifications, process flows, user interface descriptions, glossaries, and dictionaries, for project and BAU support.
- Contribute to system architecture design and analysis activities, and produce necessary technical, approval artefacts.d
**Essential criteria**
**1. **Production and review of systems documentation - product and process documentation appropriate to the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including architecture specifications, process flows, user interface descriptions, glossaries, and dictionaries, for project and BAU support.

**2. **Ability to author technical, business and project documentation, progress and exception reports.

**3. **Experience working with software developers, security analysts, project managers, system testers, solutions architects, business and systems analysts, and in producing and reviewing content.

**4. **Production and review of security documentations - security risk management plans, system security plans, standard operating procedures and user guides.

**5. **Extensive skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio to produce documents, presentations, diagrams and infographics as required.
