About the Role

This temporary position is a full-time 1.0 FTE equivalent across 3 base schools, until 27 January 2027. Base schools: Gulgong High School, Cudgegong Valley Public School and Mudgee High School. Temporary engagements will be created at each base school. There may be a requirement to service other schools in the area as needed. School psychologists are part of the Department's school counselling service, providing counselling and psychological assessment to support student learning and wellbeing, and to assist families with learning and mental health needs. This is a collegiate role with professional development opportunities and the potential to make a significant impact on children and young people.

The successful candidate will work across the base schools and may serve primary and high school students. You will collaborate with multiple school communities, colleagues, and external agencies as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will receive supervision with the Senior Psychologist Education and participate in group and peer supervision as part of the school counselling team. Opportunities exist for continuing professional development and support to maintain registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Benefits include leave types (recreation, flex), leave loading, travel allowances, and health and wellbeing programs. The department also covers indemnity insurance for psychologists working in our schools.

* Contribute to social, emotional, and academic development and support students with complex behavioural needs.
* Administer cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments; report results and collaborate to improve outcomes.
* Work with learning and support teams, parents/carers, and other agencies to develop school-based support.
* Respond as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
* Refer students and families to other agencies as needed to support health and wellbeing outcomes.

* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and the NSW AECG Partnership Agreement, ensuring quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
* General or Provisional Psychology Registration with active internship with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Current Working with Children Check clearance.
* Current driver's licence and ability to travel between work sites.
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
