Job Overview
The Maintenance Fitter plays a vital role in our organisation, ensuring seamless operation of manufacturing processes and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* In collaboration with the Maintenance Leading Hand, plan and execute shutdown, breakdown, preventative, and reactive maintenance activities across the site.
* Perform routine maintenance procedures and troubleshoot mechanical problems to minimise downtime.
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, adhering to site standards and requirements while maintaining optimal plant up-time.
* Conduct risk assessments for maintenance tasks and implement necessary controls and precautions.
* Monitor equipment status, report issues, and collaborate on rectifications.
* Participate in mechanical trades tasks such as welding, fabrication, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, lubrication, and specialised machining tasks within authorised competencies.
* Maintain records of activities through the maintenance management system (MEX).
* Support the maintenance store by stocking shelves, moving heavy goods safely, picking items from shelves, recording movements, and operating a forklift.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
* Boilermaker ticket and minimum III or IV mechanical trade certificates
* Experience in fabricating/machining parts, pipework fabrication, and overhauling rotating equipment
* Proficiency in manual machining and experience using a lathe (desirable)
* Familiarity with static equipment, including process, storage, and pressure vessels, and sound knowledge of boilers and compressors
* Knowledge of working in chemical plants and hazards involved in chemical manufacturing (minimum 5 years' experience)
* High Risk Work Licences for forklift, EWP, and Confined Space (desirable)
* Good communication skills across business functions
* Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and computerised maintenance management systems like SAP, MEX, or similar.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
