About The Role
Reporting to the Education Manager, the Teacher – Centre of Excellence (Future of Housing Construction) is responsible for planning, delivering and assessing vocational and non‐vocational programs across a range of learning environments.
You will support students throughout the learning lifecycle, from initial enquiry through to completion, using flexible, inclusive and contemporary teaching strategies. The role includes developing and improving curriculum resources, maintaining strong industry partnerships, and ensuring compliance with Melbourne Polytechnic policies and the 2025 Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). This is a full-time, ongoing opportunity based at the Heidelberg campus.
What You'll Do
* Plan, deliver and assess vocational education and training aligned to accredited programs
* Create safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments that support diverse learners
* Develop and adapt teaching, assessment and curriculum materials in line with updated training packages and industry requirements
* Support student engagement, progress and wellbeing, including learning plans where required
* Maintain accurate training, assessment and compliance documentation
* Participate in validation, moderation and continuous improvement activities
* Engage with industry stakeholders to ensure programs remain current and relevant
* Support and mentor entry‐level teachers where applicable (Level 2 and 3)
* Contribute to curriculum development and innovation within the Centre of Excellence
What You'll Bring
* Relevant vocational competency and recent, current industry experience in the construction or housing sector
* Demonstrated high standard of teaching practice and commitment to learner‐centred delivery
* Sound understanding of VET quality, compliance and regulatory requirements
* Strong ability to plan, prioritise and meet agreed deadlines
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated ICT capability to support e‐learning and reporting requirement
Desirable
* Knowledge of current and emerging trends in sustainable and future‐focused housing construction
* Experience working within innovative or industry‐partnered training environments
Qualifications & Mandatory Checks
Appointment to this position is subject to meeting the qualification requirements (where applicable) and the successful completion of all mandatory employment checks.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the qualification requirements under the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement and relevant regulatory standards.
This Includes
* Relevant vocational qualifications and current industry experience in the discipline area, and
* One of the following:
o Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or TAE40116), or
o A Diploma or higher qualification in Adult Education or Vocational Education and Training, or
o A Higher Education qualification that meets the requirements for registration as a secondary school teacher together with the required VET skill sets, or
o A relevant teaching diploma or higher qualification containing supervised practicum (for non‐vocational disciplines where applicable)
Applicants who hold secondary teaching qualifications with relevant VET skill sets are also encouraged to apply.
