Job Description
The role of Legal Adviser involves providing expert legal advice and support to various business units within the organization. As a key member of the legal team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with employment laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing legal advice on employment law, industrial relations, equal opportunity, diversity, and workplace health and safety;
* Managing external legal advisors where appropriate;
* Undertaking litigious work and being accountable for attending, advising on, and managing pre-litigation commercial disputes and claims made to various industry authorities, tribunals, and courts;
* Partnering with other members of the legal team to ensure the provision of high-quality, reliable, and comprehensive legal advice to leadership teams and executive teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
* A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) as a Legal Adviser or 6 years' PQE as a Senior Legal Adviser at a well-respected Australian or international law firm;
* Specific experience in employment/workplace law and dispute resolution;
* Advocacy experience is desirable, particularly in the Fair Work Commission;
* A working understanding of privacy law and the Australian Consumer Law;
* Law graduates with a degree in law from a reputable Australian or international university;
* A current relevant practising certificate in a state Supreme Court and the High Court of Australia.
