Community Support Specialist
We are seeking a Community Support Specialist to assist people with physical or intellectual disability or those with a history of trauma and neglect in the community. The successful candidate will implement a tailored program specifically designed to support these individuals in meeting their goals. This may include but is not limited to teaching life skills such as travel training, cooking, budgeting etc.
This is a rewarding role that is perfect for those who thrive in autonomous positions and are motivated to help participants engage and connect with their community.
A great Community Support Specialist will possess the following qualities:
* A minimum Certificate III level qualification in Mental Health, Disabilities, Community Services or related field. Alternatively, a willingness to enrol and obtain a relevant certificate.
* Demonstrate an ability to work independently without direct supervision.
* Current First Aid Certificate.
* Experience supporting individuals with an intellectual disability, learning disability or those with a history of trauma and neglect.
* Exhibit the ability to establish a professional working relationship with clients that is supportive, encouraging and challenging.
* Ability to handle complex and adverse situations.
* Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively within complex family dynamics.
* Ability and willingness to work in a diverse range of settings, including but not limited to - a person's home or place of residence, other services or community groups.
* Availability and willingness to work as part of a 7 day roster, between 6am-6pm.
* A vehicle with Comprehensive Insurance (to be used for work purposes)
* Current Driver's License.
