Logan Water plays a critical role in supporting the growth of the fastest growing local government area in Queensland, delivering safe, reliable and sustainable water and wastewater services for the Logan community.About the roleThis newly created Principal Engineer role provides advanced engineering and technical leadership within Logan Water's Development Services Program. You will be responsible for assessing complex development applications, providing expert engineering advice, reviewing water and wastewater designs, negotiating infrastructure and tankering agreements, and ensuring that development outcomes align with Logan Water's service, safety and quality standards.Because Logan is experiencing significant population and infrastructure growth, you will immediately work on high impact projects including:Greenfield development areas that open new communitiesMajor residential and commercial projectsPriority development areasMajor facilities and infrastructure upgradesStrategic works such as pump stations and trunk networksYou will also play an important leadership role by coaching and mentoring engineers, supporting capability uplift, and contributing to quality assurance and business improvement initiatives.This is a high performing team with a practical, down to earth culture rather than a rigid corporate environment.Key indicators:Delivery of timely, accurate and high quality engineering assessmentsStrong leadership, coaching and technical guidance for team membersHigh quality reporting, documentation and advice to internal and external stakeholdersEffective negotiation of infrastructure and tankering agreementsProactive identification of risks, opportunities and improvement initiativesStrong customer centric communication and issue resolutionCompliance with Logan Water's performance, quality, safety and service frameworksYou'll possessTechnical ExpertiseExtensive experience in water and wastewater development engineering assessmentAbility to assess complex engineering designs, reports and operational works drawingsStrong knowledge of SEQ Code and relevant planning legislationExperience reviewing detailed design and identifying risks and opportunities within infrastructure proposalsLeadership and CollaborationExperience coaching and supporting engineers, graduates and undergraduatesAbility to uplift technical capability and support quality assurance frameworksStrong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skillsAbility to build rapport quickly and provide clear, audience appropriate adviceBusiness ImprovementExperience driving or contributing to process improvements, reporting enhancements and operational efficienciesProfessional AttributesHighly developed organisational, analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work autonomously while contributing positively to a high performing teamResilience, adaptability and a positive approach to complex challengesRequirementsTertiary engineering qualifications acceptable for Engineers Australia (Member level)Eligibility for RPEQ registrationCurrent C Class driver licenceConstruction Induction (White Card) or ability to obtain within 3 monthsWhy choose Logan City Council?We have a friendly, customer-centric culture that values diversity and inclusion, fostering collaborative working relationships across the organisation.
