What you'll be doing
As a Level 1/2 Outpatient Cancer Social Worker, you will provide high‑quality, holistic psychosocial care to patients and carers accessing the Crown Princess Mary Cancer Outpatient Services. You will utilise your clinical expertise to assess complex needs, deliver therapeutic interventions, and support multidisciplinary decision‑making.
In this role, you will:
* Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and provide expert consultation to medical teams
* Deliver interventions including counselling, advocacy, crisis support, bereavement care and referral to community services
* Participate in quality improvement, policy development and evidence‑based practice activities
* Provide education to staff and supervision to students in line with AASW guidelines
* Maintain high‑quality documentation, statistics and professional standards

Essential Requirements
* Qualification: Degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW).
Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated understanding of psychosocial issues associated with acute and chronic illness.
* Demonstrated capacity to provide counselling, case management for patients/families with illness adjustment, complex social issues and end of life care.
* Demonstrated clinical experience or understanding of the psychosocial impact of illness adjustment, grief, loss and bereavement.
* Demonstrated understanding of issues associated with working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse client group.
* Demonstrated well-developed time management skills with excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing skills and high level computer literacy.
* Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.
* Knowledge of quality assurance and / or clinical practice improvement activities.
* Participation in the After Hours Crisis On Call Social Work Service.
