Reservations Agent (Pre-Opening) – Crowne Plaza Geelong
Be part of a landmark hotel opening in one of Victoria’s most exciting waterfront destinations!
In partnership with Plenary Group, IHG Hotels & Resorts is bringing the world-class Crowne Plaza brand to Geelong, opening on January 23, 2026. As part of the new Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre precinct, this 200-room hotel will offer premium accommodation, a restaurant and bar, pool, gym, and versatile meeting spaces — ideal for both business and leisure travellers.
Join Our Pre-Opening Team
As we prepare to open our doors, we’re on the lookout for passionate Reservations Agents (full-time, part-time, and casual) to join our pre-opening team at Crowne Plaza Geelong.
We will be starting our onboarding and training in December however, having Christmas and new year off!
Your day-to-day
- Sell the IHG products and services using up-selling and suggestive selling techniques
- Promote the hotel's products and services
- Maintain a high level of product and service knowledge about all Holiday Inn Hotels in your region
- Develop and maintain a regular pattern of sales calls
- Prepare and execute action plans which increase reservation sales and associated business
- Record and process reservations made by phone/fax/email
- Accept wait list reservations
- Process amendments to reservations such as extensions, early departures, etc
- Manage “no show” reservations by investigation and recording of same
- Record special billing arrangements for groups and conventions
- Liaise with Front Office Manager or Finance Manager for all reservations requiring credit approval
- Maintain knowledge of special rates/ offers/ promotions
- Monitor reservation levels and inform Managers of current and future occupancy rates
- Prepare reports as requested (eg to travel agents, business houses etc)
- Prepare reservation sales reports
What we need from you
- Fluency in English - extra language skills would be great, but not essential
- Literate and tech-savvy - you’ll need a valuable grasp of reading, writing, basic maths and computers
- Experience - ideally you’ll have spent at least one year in a front desk or guest service position and have a comfortable grasp of Opera or Opera Cloud
- Strong communication skills – guests will need to come to you with concerns as well as compliments
- Your problem-solving skills will turn issues into opportunities so every guest leaves with great memories
