About The Opportunity
As Design Manager – Mechanical Engineer, you will lead mechanical design activities for the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant. You will manage design integration, oversee technical solutions, and ensure compliance with project specifications. Reporting to the Engineering & Design Manager, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to deliver sustainable, value‑engineered designs and support project delivery from concept through commissioning.
Key Accountabilities
* Lead and contribute to innovative mechanical design for large‑scale desalination and water treatment projects, delivering sustainable, value‑engineered solutions from concept through to detailed design.
* Develop and review technical calculations, specifications, reports, schedules and procurement documentation, ensuring compliance with project and Water Corporation requirements.
* Manage and maintain digital design information including drawings, registers, transmittals, change requests and design control systems.
* Prepare and present D&C cost estimates, technical proposals and design solutions to internal teams, clients and key stakeholders.
* Ensure design integration and interface management across mechanical, civil, electrical and other disciplines.
* Support project delivery and procurement, including tendering, vendor engagement, equipment selection, site visits and technical meetings.
* Provide technical leadership and oversight, coordinating resources, budgets, work packages and WBS to keep design programs on track.
* Drive sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement, contributing new ideas, mentoring team members and supporting commissioning, testing and O&M documentation.
Required Skills And Competencies
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Proven experience in large‑scale water infrastructure projects
* Strong knowledge of design control systems and standards
* Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
