About Youth Justice

Youth Justice provides community‐based supervision and case management services for young people appearing before, or having been sentenced by, the Children's Court, Koori Court and adult criminal courts, including those placed on Youth Justice supervised orders, including supervised bail. Youth Justice promotes the rehabilitation of young people involved in offending with the aim of reducing crime in the community.

About the role

The Team Manager, YJBAS will play a critical role in supporting young people to get their lives back on track. The role is responsible for:

* Leading and supervising a team of YJBAS Workers to conduct quality bail assessments, prepare quality reports, and provide authoritative and expert advice to Bail Justices and the Weekend Online Remand Court (WORC).
* Overseeing team operations and providing strategic advice and problem‐solving regarding operations of YJBAS to contribute to effective service delivery.
* Overseeing the support provided by YJBAS in after‐hours monitoring and responses to young people subject to Electronic Monitoring Service (EMS) of bail conditions.
* Supporting the after‐hours delivery of the Emergency Bail Supervision Service (EBSS).

The YJBAS Team Manager will operate on a rotating roster with both evening and day shifts, including weekends and public holidays, and will be remunerated in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024.

About You

As our ideal candidate you will demonstrate:

* Experience in and passion for managing teams and resources ensuring smooth delivery of services and organisational change.
* An advanced understanding of the Youth Justice System, particularly the principles and philosophy underpinning relevant legislation and the Victorian Youth Justice program.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships with people at all levels.
* Proven written communication skills and the ability to plan and provide strategically appropriate recommendations to various stakeholders.
