Nuclear Powered Submarine Project Engineer
We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our team as a Nuclear Powered Submarine Project Engineer. The successful candidate will provide engineering support and leadership for the build of the SSN AUKUS submarines during design and build activities.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and reviewing engineering documentation such as docking calculations, stability calculations, structural calculations, work instructions, defect assessments, repair procedures, test procedures and engineering reports.
* Task organisation & analysis involving a number of steps; and processes which include sequencing, integrating, extrapolating, inferencing, and abstracting.
* Preparing technical reports and other engineering documents with minimum supervision.
* Producing safety and technical risk assessments in accordance with the Defence Seaworthiness Management System.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A Bachelor of Engineering, Naval Architecture or similar degree that satisfies membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia at MIEAust level.
* Demonstrated success conducting Naval Architecture analysis within a heavy engineering, shipbuilding or defence industry.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Strong knowledge of submarine/ship design, trim and stability, shock and vibration, dockings, hydrostatics and general structural engineering.
* Understanding of Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSWMS) and its application to Engineering Delegations and Risk Levels.
* Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
* Must be an Australian Citizen.
