Role Overview:
The Legal Officer provides high-quality legal advice to support the statutory functions of our organisation. This includes advising on matters associated with investigations, legislative compliance obligations, and instructing counsel in respect of examinations conducted pursuant to relevant laws.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide independent, timely, and accurate legal advice, guidance, and support to staff involved in assessments, investigations, evaluations, reviews, and prevention activities.
* Prepare and assist in the preparation of reports, including investigation reports and general reports.
* Contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
* Instruct counsel in respect of examinations conducted pursuant to relevant laws.
Requirements:
* A degree in law or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in the Northern Territory.
* The ability to provide legal advice in relation to criminal law, public law, and administrative law.
* High quality written legal advice that is clear and easily understood.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
