WEARS Australia is a specialist engineering firm dedicated to improving water quality across Australia. We design, manufacture, and install innovative water treatment and resource management technology. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Fitter (Fabrication experience preferred) to join our team and help deliver critical infrastructure projects.
The Role
Based out of our Brisbane/Queensland operations, this is a hands-on role that offers a mix of workshop assembly and field-based installation and maintenance. You will be responsible for ensuring our specialized water equipment is installed and maintained to the highest engineering standards.
Note: This position involves regular away work at various client sites across Australia.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble and install specialized water treatment equipment and mechanical components.
* Perform onsite maintenance, troubleshooting, and precision repairs.
* Execute manual fabrication and welding tasks as required by project specifications.
* Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering plans.
* Maintain detailed service reports and documentation.
* Strictly adhere to site-specific safety protocols and company WHS policies.

Requirements & Qualifications
* Trade Qualification: Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, or Fabrication Trade).
* Industry Experience: Previous experience with pumps, gearboxes, or water treatment infrastructure is highly regarded.
* Fabrication Skills: Proficiency in manual fabrication and basic welding.
* Travel Flexibility: Must be willing and able to travel and work away from home for project durations.
* Driver's License: Valid Australian Manual Driver's License.
* Fitness for Duty: * Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
* Must be willing to participate in random onsite drug and alcohol testing, as required by our Tier 1 and municipal client sites.
Preferred Tickets & Licenses (Highly Regarded)
* Heavy Vehicle License: MR or HR class.
* High-Risk Work Tickets: Working at Heights (RIIWHS204E) and Confined Space Entry (RIIWHS202E).
* Marine: Current Boat License (Recreational or Commercial).
* Construction: Current White Card.
