Job Summary:
In this role, you will plan, develop, and review electrical engineering design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review key electrical drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure electrical designs comply with all regulations and standards.
Major Responsibilities:
* Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews design work within a small-size Electrical design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unit
* Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing. Ensures Electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
* Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of Electrical engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters
* Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
* Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators)
* Prepares or oversees the preparation of Electrical design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
* Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work
* Reviews key Electrical engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries
* Mentors Electrical designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures and codes relevant to the electrical discipline.
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidiscipline team for EPC/EPCM projects.
* Proficient in electrical discipline with the ability to resolve a wide range of issues.
* Experience in the instrumentation discipline will be highly regarded.
* Extensive Microstation and/or AutoCAD as well as 3D modelling skills are essential.
* Supplemental experience in SmartPlant 3D, Tekla, 3D Lighting design, SmartPlant Electrical and SmartPlant Instrumentation will be highly regarded.
* Advanced knowledge of electrical and instrumentation design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
