Geotechnical Engineering Specialist Role
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineering Specialist to join our team and play a key role in delivering high-quality technical support to site operations.
In this site-based role, you will be responsible for identifying geotechnical risks and management in mine design and execution, while ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will also maintain and update Ground Control / Slope Stability Management Plans to comply with regulatory requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include leading site functions to identify geotechnical risk and management in mine design and execution, conducting formal investigations into geotechnical failures, and performing regular Ground Investigation Risk Assessments.
You will work closely with Planning and Operational teams to manage geotechnical hazards and incidents, deliver geotechnical stability assessments and designs, and maintain accurate and up-to-date geotechnical documentation and reporting tools.
In addition, you will mentor and supervise graduate geotechnical engineers, drive continuous improvement in geotechnical practices, and continuously develop technical expertise and stay abreast of industry advancements.
Requirements:
* A degree qualifying for RPEQ registration in Mining Geotechnical Engineering.
* Minimum 6 years of operational mining experience, including large-scale instability hazard management.
* Proficiency in geotechnical software: Rocscience, Maptek Vulcan, and Ground Monitoring Systems.
* Strong understanding of site value drivers and ability to balance profitability with safety and compliance.
