Mills is partnering with a respected Perth-based engineering consultancy delivering multi-disciplinary engineering solutions across major mining and resources projects in Western Australia. Due to sustained project demand, we are seeking an experienced CAD Administrator to support a long-term program of work.
This is a senior, hands-on role suited to a technically strong CAD professional who can operate as a subject-matter expert across complex engineering environments.
The Role As the CAD Administrator, you will play a critical role in the governance, optimisation, and support of CAD systems across mechanical, structural, piping, electrical, and civil disciplines. You will work closely with engineering, design, and project delivery teams to ensure systems, standards, and workflows align with both internal and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary CAD systems authority across multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Administer, configure, and support Bentley environments, with a strong focus on:
MicroStation
OpenBuildings Designer (OBD)
OpenPlant
Provide advanced support for Autodesk products including AutoCAD and Inventor
Lead and support model coordination workflows using iConstruct and Navisworks
Develop, maintain, and optimise CAD automation tools and scripts using VBA, Python, and similar languages
Establish, maintain, and enforce CAD standards, procedures, and best practices
Support model federation, clash detection, and digital engineering deliverables
Collaborate closely with mechanical, structural, piping, electrical, and civil design teams
Interface with client systems, standards, and document control requirements
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to designers and engineers as required
Skills & Experience You will ideally bring:
Minimum 5 years' experience in a CAD Administrator or senior CAD systems role
Super-user level expertise in Bentley products, particularly MicroStation, OBD, and OpenPlant
Working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor
Advanced proficiency in iConstruct and Navisworks
Strong coding capability in VBA, Python, or similar scripting languages
Proven experience supporting multi-disciplinary engineering design teams
Familiarity with BHP, Rio Tinto, and Fortescue systems and procedures (highly desirable)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused approach
Contract Details
Anticipated duration: 12+ months with strong potential for extension
Location: Perth-based role
