**Tasks & responsibilities**
- Engage effectively with a diverse range of young people and provide opportunities for them to be actively involved in the shaping of their local communities to foster a sense of achievement, empowerment and civic pride.
- Provide input into the development and implementation of Council's Youth Strategy and identify novel opportunities to support and enhance opportunities for community participation and volunteering among young people.
- Develop joint youth programs and strategies with other areas of Council and with external agencies and investigate and administer grant funding opportunities for these programs.
- Manage and facilitate the Hilltops Youth Action Group including managing website content and social media pages for the Hilltops Youth Action Group.
- Establish and maintain an effective youth consultation process based on community development principles to inform the planning, implementation and delivery of the Youth Strategy, by way of Youth Week, School Holidays events and other youth-focused programs.
- Directly facilitate identified youth projects, events and community development activities with support from Council's Destination & Economy team, and attend these youth activities outside of normal business hours.
- Prepare reports and budget summaries for the Manager Corporate Strategy & Community.
**Qualifications & experience**
- Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Development, Community Services or related field, or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through experience.
- One or more years' experience in a relevant field demonstrating high-level skills in service delivery, community development and consultation with young people.
- Project management and report writing experience.
- Demonstrated practical experience in liaising and working with a variety of community groups and organisations.
- National Police Check & Working with Children Check.
- Current Class C Drivers Licence.
