About the team:
Sitting in the Planning Regulation and Services Gold Coast department, the Development Compliance business unit is responsible for ensuring that any building and plumbing and drainage works across the City are compliant with relevant legislation and approvals. Investigate unlawful building work, dilapidated or dangerous building work and structures, inspect building works to assess the requirements of a Building Compliance Notice under the Residential Services Act, to confirm compliance with conditions of a building approval, and compliance inspections relating to sale of properties.
About the role:
We are seeking motivated individuals to join the Planning Compliance team either on a fixed term or permanent position. You will be responsible for carrying out inspections, investigations and enforcement action on alleged breaches of the Council's City Plan as required, ensuring compliance with the City Plan 2016.
Key Deliverables:
* Primarily responsible for the investigation and enforcement of requirements under the City Plan 2016.
* Carry out inspections to confirm compliance with development approval conditions.
* Investigate and respond to alleged breaches of development approval conditions in accordance with business processes and within business timeframes.
* Comprehensively research records, interpret policy and legislation as required.
* Make recommendations based on statutory obligations and evidence to determine appropriate action to achieve compliance.
* Prepare reports and correspondence in accordance with business processes.
* Initiate enforcement action in accordance with legislative requirements when deemed appropriate.
We’re looking for people who have:
* Demonstrated consultation, negotiation and mediation skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* The ability to manage multiple tasks and organise/prioritise a high workload.
* Experience in a development compliance / town planning role and knowledge of the City Plan is desirable.
* A positive and energetic outlook and enjoy working within a team.
