Job Opportunity: Supporting First Nations Children
This is an Identified Position open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only, under Section 14D of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
We are seeking a dedicated Community Coordinator to join our team in Sydney. The successful candidate will work with First Nations children aged 0–9 with disabilities or developmental delays, empowering their independence, community inclusion, and overall quality of life.
You will:
* Build strong, respectful relationships with First Nations families, ensuring their voices and preferences are at the forefront.
* Conduct observations of a child in their natural environment (face-to-face and/or remotely via video conference, where applicable) to assess their functioning and support needs.
* Support First Nations families to establish meaningful goals & aspirations for their child and family and track progression toward goals.
* Provide community connections and linkages to mainstream services in the local area to improve children's access to the right supports and meaningful social participation.
About the Role
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Experience working with First Nations children and families.
* Understanding of child development (0–9 years).
* Knowledge and connection to local First Nations communities.
* Confidence in building community networks and service pathways.
* Ability to promote a culturally safe and supportive work environment.
* Aboriginality confirmed by a reference from an Aboriginal organisation or community group.
* Tertiary qualification in Early Childhood or Allied Health is desirable.
