This is an exciting opportunity to work as a receptionist at a GP practice covering sessions for scheduled holidays, sickness and other adhoc requests.
The purpose of the role is to:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessingthe appropriate appointments, service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficientand effective way
Offer general assistance to the Practice andproject a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either inperson or via the telephone
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties toassist in the smooth running of the Practice.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a positive and enthusiasticreceptionist to join our established and hard working team. The role requires someone who is diligent,friendly and capable, someone who is self motivated, a good communicator and alwaysstriving for the best for the patients.
Ideally the candidate will have experience of workingin a reception environment within a healthcare setting but this is not essential as on-the-job training will be provided. Exceptional candidateswithout healthcare experience but with a strong and relevant backgroundwill also be considered.

We have a team of 9 receptionists plus additional bank staff supporting a team of 5 doctors and 4 nurses/assistants. We are always striving to deliver the best possible health services for our patients.
Our main site at Warmdene Surgery is situated justtwo minutes off the main A27, offering bright and modern facilities with freeparking and good public transport options. We use the EMIS web clinicalsystem.
Job responsibilities
REPORTS TO: Practice Manager
HOURS: Morning sessions run from 07:45am until 12:45pm and afternoon sessions run from 13:45pm until 18:45pm.
Job Summary:
The purpose of the role is to:
- Offergeneral assistance to the Practice team and project a positive andfriendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via thetelephone
- Receive,assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate appointments, service orhealthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
- Undertakea variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of thePractice including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff andother members of the Practice team
- Facilitateeffective communication between patients, members the primary health careteam, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties andresponsibilities to be undertaken by members of the Practice receptionteam are defined in the job description and may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workload andstaffing levels.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Minimum GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths. IT Literate including Outlook & Word. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to deal confidently with patients from all backgrounds.
Experience
- Prioritisation of workload and being able to self-manage.
- Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities and where appropriate make protected and suitable decisions.
- Able to investigate problems and implement corrective actions. Working with confidential, sensitive information
- Previous experience of working as a receptionist in a healthcare setting.
