Regional safety manager (south coast)

Job Purpose
The regional safety manager role will form a crucial element of the organisation’s operations team in promoting the safety and wellbeing of employees through WHS policies and procedures, training and development along with continuous improvement practices.

The role will be primarily based in Wollongong and oversee regional safety operations across the South Coast and regional NSW including Ulladulla, Southern Highlands, Lithgow, and Mudgee.

Key Responsibilities

* Influence and drive a proactive, engaged safety culture across all levels of the business.
* Embed safety and quality into daily operations through coaching, mentoring and frontline engagement.
* Support the National Safety Manager in delivering cultural, performance and compliance improvements.
* Build strong relationships with client‑side safety professionals and represent the business in client meetings.
* Ensure policies and procedures align with ISO standards and WHS legislation.
* Lead audits, risk assessments, incident investigations and root‑cause analysis.
* Develop and review WHS documentation, including procedures and supporting materials.
* Coordinate site inspections, emergency drills and risk mitigation activities.
* Prepare Work Method Statements, Safety Management Plans and other WHS documents.
* Monitor safety performance data to identify trends and drive improvement actions.
* Develop and maintain system policies, procedures, forms, SWMS and risk assessments.
* Support operational teams with meeting preparation, data analysis, presentations and administrative tasks.
* Assist with onsite inductions and onboarding.
* Oversee in‑field safety programs to ensure consistent application of controls and client requirements.
Qualifications and Competencies
* Cert IV in WHS/OHS or higher preferred.
* Drivers Licence.
* Truck license desirable.
* Experience in workplace investigations and ICAM.
* Proven experience in safety systems and managing safety issues in a regulated, high-risk environment.
* Knowledge of legislative requirements (Workplace Health & Safety, and Environmental).
* People leadership skills, with proven experience in driving change, lifting performance and raising engagement.
