About the role

The General Manger- People & Culture (GM P&C) is a multifaceted role directly responsible to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who has supervisory responsibility for this position.

The General Manager- People and Culture will lead the organisation-wide HR function, manage the full employee lifecycle while developing and executing the People and Culture strategy that aligns with the business goals and vision. The GM P&C will work closely with leaders of The Jesmond Group to identify improvements and develop sustainable strategies to support employees and organisational growth.

The GM P&C will act as a strategic partner to the Executive Leadership Team and senior managers to guide the implementation of best practices in human resources, workforce planning, employee engagement, culture development, and organisational change. This role ensures the alignment of People and Culture initiatives with the regulatory, ethical, and operational requirements of the aged care sector.

Key responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership and Compliance
Provide strategic HR leadership aligned with the organisation's direction and aged care sector reforms, acting as an advisor to the executive team. Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, WHS requirements, Modern Awards, and the updated Aged Care Act 2024. Maintain and update HR frameworks, policies, and procedures to reflect legal obligations and industry best practices.

Workforce Planning and Capability Development
Lead workforce capability planning to support future service models and regulatory changes. Develop and implement workforce strategies that anticipate aged care workforce needs, champion leadership development, and support performance management frameworks such as KPIs and appraisals.

Inclusive and Supportive Organisational Culture
Foster a culture of inclusiveness, respect, and best practice through leadership and by promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Contribute to a harmonious workplace by supporting colleagues, showing flexibility, and embodying organisational values.

End-to-End HR Operations and People Management
Oversee HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and payroll processing. Ensure HR practices support staff retention, engagement, and accurate, timely reporting and analytics for decision-making.

Collaboration and Quality Improvement
Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to align HR strategies with service delivery improvements. Contribute to quality programs focused on meeting accreditation standards by improving care and services, and ensure communication is professional, clear, and effective across all levels.

Essential Attributesand Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications inHuman Resources,Business Administration, or related fields.

Senior leadership experience inPeople & Culture, preferably in aged care or community services.

Deep understanding ofemployment law,industrial relations, andaged care workforce challenges.

Strategic thinkerwith the ability to translate vision into action.

Strong leadership and influencing skills.

Highrelationship managementcapabilities.

Extensive experience in talent management and aged care operations

Proven ability to managecomplex HR and Industrial Relations matters in Aged Care sector.

Commitment tovalue-driven leadershipand social justice.

Willingness to self-educate.

Professional personal presentation.

An appreciation for the cultural aspects of caring for people from countries other than Australia.
