Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) – Ward K10 West, Royal Hobart Hospital, Department of Health, Tasmania. Permanent, full‑time day worker, commencing 23 February 2026.
Team & Unit Description
Ward K10 West is a 30‑bed adult inpatient unit specialising in General Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Respiratory Medicine and a specialist eating‑disorder service. The unit operates in a fast‑paced environment with admissions from the Emergency Department, Rapid Assessment and Planning Unit and Department of Critical Care.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead clinical, educational and research functions within Ward K10 West, ensuring effective governance and high standards of patient care.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary teamwork, promoting clinical excellence and patient safety.
* Implement evidence‑based practice, clinical standards, risk management and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
* Support staff development, succession planning and workforce engagement.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Nurse with membership of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Advanced knowledge and experience in Respiratory, Infectious Diseases and General Medicine nursing practice.
* Comprehensive understanding of contemporary nursing management, clinical governance, risk management, evidence‑based practice and legislation.
* Demonstrated leadership, communication and influence skills, fostering a culture of success and commitment.
Preferred Qualifications
* Postgraduate qualification relevant to adult inpatient medicine, respiratory or infectious disease nursing.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. Additional allowances and salary packaging options are available as detailed above.
Eligibility
* Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Essential criteria include membership of the Board and evidence of advanced practice in the required clinical areas.
* Applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria; desirable criteria include relevant postgraduate qualifications.
