Job Title: Content Strategy Manager
The role of the Content Strategy Manager involves overseeing the day-to-day management of channels within a genre group, providing a point of contact for internal and external enquiries.
This position is responsible for developing long-term content and programming strategies for a channel portfolio in Australia and New Zealand, maximising ratings and KPI targets while upholding individual channel brands and supporting strategic business objectives across the portfolio.
The Content Strategy Manager will execute agreed programming strategies for channels (both linear and non-linear), ensuring their smooth operation through effective scheduling and inventory management. They will also maintain detailed forward planning documents, communicate timely and clearly, and manage accurate data.
This role requires building close relationships with key platform partners, including Foxtel, Binge, Fetch, Sky, and external channel groups. The Content Strategy Manager will assist in the leadership and management of the Programming Team, comprising Programmers and Programming Assistants, including setting performance targets and managing personal development.
They will work closely with the Media Planning, Marketing, and Creative teams to plan and execute channel brand and on-air promotion strategies, drafting and inputting into briefs when required. The role also involves working collaboratively with the Head of Acquisitions and Head of Branded Services to provide clear editorial requirements and strategies, apportioning and tracking budgets.
The Content Strategy Manager will preview and evaluate programs, taking into account channel brands and target audiences. They will ultimately make recommendations to the Head of Branded Services for all acquisitions for the genre portfolio, considering channel strategies and budgets.
They will ensure audience research is effectively utilised to inform content decisions and highlight future opportunities and weaknesses across channels, reacting decisively to declining performance in a considered and strategic manner.
The role also involves ensuring all contractual requirements of channels are met, including hours, VOD, closed captioning, HD, ad mintage, etc. The Content Strategy Manager will work closely with the Head of Branded Services on ad revenue optimisation and proactive sponsorship opportunities.
They will contribute to growth strategies for the portfolio, evaluating commercial opportunities and developing/shaping new channel proposals. Additionally, they will ensure channels are compliant with BBC Studios' Editorial Framework and Guidelines.

* Extensive knowledge of scheduling and strategy with a detailed understanding of television audiences and their relationship to content
* Management experience, strategic thinking, local market understanding, editorial judgement, influencing and networking, commercial acumen, complex problem solving, project and budget management, communication and presentation skills, and excellent Excel, PowerPoint, and general computing skills
