There is an exciting opportunity with the Parks & Reserves team for a Team Leader Tree Maintenance. The Team Leader Tree Maintenance will assist in the management and maintenance of all public street trees and trees in public open space. The Team Leader will provide leadership to the Street Tree Maintenance Team, promote safe work practices and deliver skills training to other employees as required. Provide leadership, direction and on the job training to supervised staff.
Responsibilities
* Management and maintenance of council's street tree and tree assets.
* Perform a diverse range of tree maintenance tasks and other parks and reserves maintenance tasks as required.
* Perform tree inspections to guide tree maintenance programs in line with the Shire Street Tree Policy.
* Provide guidance to other staff and stakeholders on tree issues.
* Liaise with contractors on tree maintenance tasks as required.
* Perform work unsupervised or with limited direction.
* Supervise and provide direction to a small group of employees and ensure a high quality and standard of work they produce.
* Required to exercise the skills and knowledge of relevant trade or expertise.
* Monitor, maintain and construct Council infrastructure as required.
* Maintain appropriate documentation as directed by the Parks and Reserves Supervisor.
* Maintain all associated plant & equipment relative to position in liaison with the Supervisor Parks and Reserves Operations.
* Competent operations of specific mechanical plant or vehicles.
* Responsible for assuring the quality of their own work.
* Any other duties as required.
This is a full‐time position, working 85 hours per fortnight.
About you
* Well‐developed leadership and supervisory skills.
* Experience in the management and maintenance of street trees and operation experience in tree management, selection, planting and maintenance.
* An understanding of horticultural practices and experience in pruning trees and shrubs.
* Time management and organisational skills.
* Experience in operation of plant and equipment as utilised by council in maintaining street trees and parks and reserves assets.
* Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
Salary
$86,673.68 per annum including overtime.
