As a Commis Chef, you'll work closely with the Chef de Cuisine in a fast‐paced, hands‐on environment that values precision, creativity, and a strong focus on safety and quality.
A few of your responsibilities
* Support or lead the assigned section as directed by the Chef De Cuisine and provide training to junior staff members
* Assist with fundamental cooking and food preparation tasks
* Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and workstations
* Complete all duties in line with company and statutory hygiene requirements
* Meet requirements for consistency and high quality in a fast‐paced environment
What we are looking for
* Culinary School Graduate. Received apprenticeship training in commercial cookery and hold a Certificate III
* Experience with Western and Asian cuisines desirable
* Proficiency with diverse food preparation techniques and cooking equipment
* Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including overnight shifts is a must
About You
You are passionate and creative, with strong cooking experience and a willingness to share your expertise to guide and support team members in the Vantage Kitchen. With excellent communication skills, you thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with colleagues, management, and interacting with customers. You bring a proactive, positive attitude to every shift and are committed to delivering consistently high standards.
Your role will be pivotal to the success of Harvest Buffet Kitchen at The Star Sydney.
