Substance Withdrawal Specialist
The role of a Substance Withdrawal Specialist is to support clients engaged with the program to undertake a supported community withdrawal. This will involve providing a range of nursing interventions and supports to individuals experiencing, or at risk of withdrawal symptoms related to substance dependence.
Key Responsibilities
* Support clients through a comprehensive assessment process to identify their needs and develop a personalized care plan.
* Provide evidence-based nursing interventions to manage withdrawal symptoms and prevent complications.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care.
* Maintain accurate and complete documentation in the client record at all times in compliance with current record-keeping policies.
Requirements
* A current registered nurse registration with AHPRA.
* At least five years of nursing experience, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting.
* Demonstrated sound understanding of dependence, signs and symptoms of withdrawal and intoxication for the major drugs of abuse.
* Current driver’s licence and ability to travel for work purposes including home visits.
