Business Development Manager – Clinical Trials
Location: Victoria (Hybrid / Onsite / Remote)
Employment Type: Full-time preferred (Part-time considered)
A highly respected Clinical Trial Unit in Victoria is looking for an experienced, commercially minded Business Development Manager to join their growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a proven background in clinical research business development, especially in early-phase trials, and an existing network across sponsors, biotech, and CROs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and drive business development strategy to support ongoing site growth across early-phase trials
- Establish, nurture, and expand strategic partnerships with sponsors, biotech, and CROs
- Represent the clinical unit at industry conferences, national and international meetings, and other external events
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and evaluate Phase I–II opportunities
- Work cross-functionally, aligning feasibility, budgeting, and operational readiness with growth objectives
- Mentor and develop the internal BD capability by supporting and guiding team members
- Contribute to long-term commercial planning, market modeling, and expansion strategy
Key Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years of business development experience in the clinical trials space
- Proven track record working in a Clinical Trial Unit, CRO, or biotech/service provider
- Deep understanding of early-phase trials and the sponsor/CRO ecosystem
- Strong business relationships; proven ability to build and maintain long-term client engagements
- Demonstrated experience in the Australian clinical trial market is crucial; international experience is highly regarded
- Confident presenter and representative at industry-facing events
- Strategic thinker, passionate about clinical research, and able to work collaboratively
- Experience leading or mentoring a team is preferred
