We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and proactive Disability Support Workers to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of NDIS participants.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support to participants in their homes and within the community. You'll assist with daily living tasks, community access, personal care, and skill-building, fostering independence and well-being for the people we support.
You will work closely with participants, their families, and our broader support team to ensure each individual receives tailored care that aligns with their goals and preferences.
This role offers flexible shifts and an opportunity to work in a rewarding field where no two days are the same.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Person-Centred Support
* Deliver individualised support based on the participant's NDIS plan.
* Encourage choice, control, and independence in daily activities.
Support Daily Living Activities
* Assist with personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
* Administer medication as required, following all relevant guidelines.
Community Participation Support
* Assist participants to attend appointments, community events, and social activities.
* Provide support with preparation and planning for outings, including packing, transport, and travel training where required.
* Encourage engagement in activities that promote social inclusion, independence, and personal interests.
* Foster meaningful connections within the community to enhance participants' confidence and well-being.
* Ensure participants feel supported and safe while accessing the community.
Communication and Advocacy
* Communicate respectfully and effectively with participants, families, and team members.
* Advocate for participant rights and access to necessary services.
Documentation and Reporting
* Accurately document support activities, incidents, and progress notes.
* Report any concerns, changes, or risks promptly to supervisors.
Safety and Compliance
* Follow health and safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for participants and staff.
* Comply with the NDIS Code of Conduct, organisational policies, and legislative requirements.
Team Collaboration
* Attend team meetings, training sessions, and supervision sessions.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent and effective service delivery.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A passion for supporting people with disabilities to live independently and reach their goals.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* A proactive, problem-solving approach with a positive attitude.
* Experience in disability support (preferred but not essential).
Essential Requirements:
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Check & Working With Children Check
* Current First Aid & CPR Certification
* NDIS Mandatory Training (or willingness to complete).
* A valid driver's licence and reliable, insured vehicle.
Desirable:
* Certificate III Individual Support or higher
