**Role**
This position is a 12-month full-time Labour Hire contract with the view to be extended and is paying $53.63 per hour + Super for an APS5, and $58.50 per hour + Super for an APS6. As a Media Officer in the Communications and Engagement Division you will be working in a team responsible for managing this Federal Government Agency's media. You will help inform and build support for the Agency with media and other external stakeholders.
**Responsibilities**
**You will work with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of a range of media solutions and opportunities, and be responsible for developing media and other communications products to support the Agency's work.**
- Supporting relationship management and building networks and connections with internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on journalists, the Minister's office and senior stakeholders.
- Producing media and other communications products, including media releases, talking points and media plans to support announcements.
- Identifying proactive opportunities for the Agency spokespeople and/or the Minister for the Agency to engage with media.
- Analysing media sentiment and data, and interpreting results to further strategic engagement.
- Undertaking a wide variety of general tasks as required, including but not limited to, providing support for reporting, analytics and executive reporting and presentations.
**As an APS6 Media & Speechwriting Officer you will also be responsible for**
- Managing relationships and building strong networks and connections with internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on journalists, the Minister's office and senior stakeholders.
- Drafting strategic, targeted and tailored speeches for the Minister in diverse fora
**Requirements**:
- Your experience in media relations will allow you to provide advice, support, and direction to others within the Agency regarding media. You will be an effective, innovative thinker who builds trust and respect, relishing the challenge of operating in a complex and changing environment. Your skills will be complemented by sound judgment, resilience, and integrity.
- Experience in using the media to communicate company messages
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to produce a range of high-quality media materials, including media releases, while working to deadlines
- Demonstrated interpersonal and influencing skills, including the ability to build and sustain effective relationships with colleagues, senior managers and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Broad understanding and experience in the disability sector or experience in state or federal government, health, aged-care, advocacy, or not-for-profits
- Experience in communications, journalism, or a related field mandatory with qualifications desirable.
