Community & Peer Worker - EX MILITARY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY | Eastwood SA
Government Department role, long term contracts. 22 positions available nationwide; initial 12-month contract at an equivalent of an APS5 level. Salary range: $61.18 - $63.76 per hour + Super.
ACM Healthcare is partnering with a Federal Government Department to source multiple Community and Peer Workers nationwide, providing support services to veterans. Roles are based in major cities across Australia.
Responsibilities
* In line with policy and procedures, provide personalised peer support services to current and former ADF members and their families.
* Share knowledge gained through lived experience to promote awareness, understanding and service improvement where appropriate.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to provide direct support to clients; work with internal and external stakeholders to influence a recovery-oriented approach to service delivery for veterans and serving ADF members and their families, fostering wellbeing.
* Role model behaviours that promote mental health recovery and wellness for client, community, and stakeholder education and engagement.
* Co-facilitate relevant group programs and case review meetings.
* Represent the peer workforce to strengthen the organisation's public profile and enhance responsiveness and reach.
* Engage with stakeholders to influence recovery-based service delivery for veterans, current ADF members and their families.
* Undertake and maintain accurate record documentation, reporting and other administration requirements.
* Maintain lived-experience led, evidence-based processes; participate in regular supervision, training, case conferencing and case review meetings.
Mandatory Criteria / Qualifications
* Lived Experience, including personal experience of military service or military family life, and of a mental health journey, which may include as a relative/carer of an ex-ADF member who has experienced a mental health journey.
* Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance must be obtained prior to commencing in the position.
* Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent, or willingness to obtain certification and other relevant training.
* Skills and experience in delivery of Lived Experience Peer support, or experience in mental health sector, mentoring, coaching or supporting individuals.
