Girl Guides Western Australia Board - Voluntary Board Secretary
We are inviting expressions of interest for a voluntary Board Secretary position commencing in early ****.
Girl Guides WA is part of Australia's largest youth organisation dedicated to empowering girls and young women.
For over a century, our volunteers have created safe, meaningful and enriching experiences for girls across metropolitan and regional Western Australia.
We deliver girl-led programs that build confidence, leadership, resilience and a strong sense of community.
As we evolve to meet the needs of a new generation, our focus is on relevant, accessible and future-ready Guiding experiences that help girls thrive.
Responsibilities
Coordinate Board agenda planning, minutes, papers and action tracking
Support the preparation and delivery of the Annual General Meeting
Support the Chair and Board with strategy day preparation and planning activities
Ideal candidate
Prior not-for-profit Board or committee experience
Strong organisational, communication and documentation skills
Previous experience of Guiding or Scouting would be useful but not essential
Commitment
Board meetings are held every two months, generally lasting around three hours, with approximately four hours of preparation required for each meeting.
Occasional ad hoc meetings may be scheduled as needed.
Board members may also be invited to join a subcommittee or strategic working group aligned to their expertise.
Attendance at the Annual Planning Day, Annual General Meeting and the Annual Awards Event is strongly encouraged.

National Police Check (apply through Girl Guides WA)
Girl Guides Australia child-safety and induction training (completed as part of onboarding)
