Your new role
As an Electrical Estimator specialising in switchboards, you will play a critical role in securing and delivering complex electrical projects. Working closely with engineering, operations, and procurement teams, you will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates across a diverse project portfolio.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Preparing detailed cost estimates for custom and modular switchboards and associated power systems
* Reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, and scope documentation to identify risks and opportunities
* Supporting tenders from initial pricing through to final submission
* Collaborating with engineering and workshop teams to validate design assumptions and constructability
* Engaging with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing
* Preparing bills of quantities, take‑offs, and pricing schedules
* Managing estimating timelines while ensuring accuracy and commercial compliance
* Assisting with value engineering and alternative solutions where appropriate
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* A trade background, Diploma, or Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Technology
* Proven experience estimating electrical projects, ideally involving switchboards or power infrastructure
* Strong understanding of custom and modular switchboards and switch room manufacturing and installations
* Working knowledge of Australian Standards and electrical legislation
* Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications
* Experience with estimating software, Excel, and document management systems
* Strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate with technical and commercial stakeholders
