Farmers Markets Manager - Gold Coast based

ABOUT THE ROLE
We're currently seeking a genuine leader and all-round team player to be our hands-on organiser at one of the most iconic and busy Sunday markets on the Gold Coast.
Managing a market is like setting up a little shopping centre each week, without a roof and walls. Our market managers can be depended upon to lead all on-site operations, will be confident is building vendor relationships and enjoy creating warm, welcoming and valuable spaces for our customers.
In preparation for market day, administration tasks are undertaken, including stallholder applications and communications, weekly market site preparations, ensuring good management processes and liaising with our Marketing team for social media content and customer inquiries.
Managers enjoy flexibility by working from home throughout the week and will attend weekly meetings (or as required) at our Fortitude Valley office.
Early mornings form a part of the role. The successful candidate will need to be ready to go at 3:00am each Sunday and enjoy long, energetic market days (approx. 10-hour days)
The role will also oversee, coordinate, and deliver our annual special events. These include (2) major events throughout the calendar year.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will love early starts, be able to work outdoors, be physically fit, and LOVE interacting with people from all walks of life.
You are a highly organised, confident and an honest people-person with a great deal of common-sense. Able to provide direction to others, with a smile and positive attitude.
You will possess sensational organisational skills, strong attention to detail and be able to solve problems quickly.That’s 98.8% of this role.
You are very proficient with customer service, comfortable coordinating emails and ad-hoc phone calls during the week and arranging stall placements each week.
The role can be physically demanding at times, and you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
And of course, you enjoy an active, vibrant lifestyle which might include attending a few local markets.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years customer management experience, or working in a retail, event or hospitality environment.
Strong Customer service experience. This role will involve taking calls and assisting our customers with a varied range of questions.
Ability to identify problems and seek fast solutions
Computer literacy is required, including database management.
Experience in leading a team. The role requires your expertise in managing a small market team, as well as coordinatingover 100 stallholders.
DETAILS
$80k + Superannuation + KPI (for an equivalent 3 days of work per week)
1 day per week onsite at the market.
