Position purpose The purpose of this position is to lead and deliver business traffic and transport program. The Coordinator Traffic and Transport will provide strategic leadership to build a proactive service, delivering an efficient, safe and integrated transport environment in Sydney. Key Accountabilities Develop and deliver a proactive traffic and transport service for the Georges River community and visitors. Create Traffic and Transport related Policies with priority given to developing a Local Area Traffic Management Policy. Support to the Director of Assets and Infrastructure and Manager Strategic Placemaking in providing timely advice to Councillors on Traffic and Transport related issues. Provide direction and advice on complex traffic and transport related issues, as well as conducting briefings and workshops to Councillors on these matters. Foster productive and positive working relationships with key stakeholders including; Transport for NSW, Department of Education, School Principals network and major employers. Oversee the design and implementation of new traffic facilities and the maintenance of existing facilities for an efficient and safe traffic environment. Manage the resourcing of the Traffic and Transport team with a specific focus on succession planning through the graduate program. Provide expert advice on development referrals relevant to traffic, parking and transport related developments and VPA requirements. Provide high level advice to developers, consultants, planners and legal representatives relating to road safety, parking and traffic issues and solutions. Oversee special projects including the strategic review of current fleet practices and embed recommendations to support optimised use, a transition to electric vehicles and strategic direction of net zero emissions by 2025. Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Civil & Environmental Engineering. Current Class C Drivers Licence and Construction Induction (White Card). Minimum 5 years experience in government traffic and/or related fields. Understanding of traffic engineering modelling software, GIS (mapping) and CAD software. Demonstrated experience in the application of Australian Standards, RMS guidelines, Roads Act and other relevant traffic legislation.
