Entry‑Level Civil/Structural Engineer (Overhead Transmission Lines)

POWER Engineers, a member of WSP, is currently hiring for an Entry‑Level Civil/Structural Engineer (Overhead Transmission Lines) for our Fort Mill, North Carolina office. You will work with the Power Delivery Carolina Line Team in a growing organization that delivers on client objectives and solves complex challenges.


Your Impact

* Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
* Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
* Contribute to all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber‑optic additions.
* Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
* Learn basic principles of Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering.
* Assist with project research, field work, preliminary design calculations and analysis.
* Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
* Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
* Complete training on assigned tasks.


Who You Are

Applicants should be students pursuing an undergraduate degree in Civil, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.


Required Qualifications

* Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and willingness to comply with WSP's health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
* Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil or Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.
* Demonstrated interest in the field and a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects.
* Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
* Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers on executive projects.
* Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
* Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.


Preferred Qualifications

* Minimum 2.75 GPA.
* Ideal coursework includes structural analysis, concrete, steel, soils, foundations, and surveying.
* Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills are critical for successful task completion.
* Prior internship and/or related designing, drafting, or engineering experience is a plus.
* Students who have passed or are scheduled to take the FE/EIT exam will be strongly considered.
* Familiarity with design, drafting, or engineering software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, and SharePoint is beneficial.
* Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
* Engineer in Training (EIT) registration is desired.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $74,000 – $81,000. The compensation range is based on the applicant's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to offer more or less than the posted range.
