Your Opportunity

As The Manager, Architecture & Design You Will

* Lead the establishment of and maintain the enterprise architecture and design assurance capability in order to contribute to broader ICT enterprise architecture uplift.
* Lead major initiatives and changes that are designed to be secure-by-design and operable-by-design through early engagement with Cyber Security Architecture, Enterprise Infrastructure domain, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and other ICT SMEs.
* Lead architecture governance forums and artefacts (e.g., standards, reference designs, decision records) are established and used to support decision-making across strategy, projects and operations.
* Work closely with the Enterprise Infrastructure Project Manager to ensure that work entering delivery has passed architecture and security gates, and that operational readiness is built in from the commencement of all projects and activities.

This position reports to the Director, Enterprise Infrastructure.

This is a Permanent, Full‐Time opportunity.

The position will be based primarily at Mount Gravatt, however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead, establish and maintain enterprise architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, patterns and roadmaps for infrastructure and platforms, ensuring consistency and alignment with organisational strategy.
* Define and operate architecture design assurance processes, including architecture review gates for projects and significant changes, and maintain architecture decision records to support transparency, repeatability and auditability.
* Lead and manage enterprise architecture uplift activities, including establishment of an Enterprise Architecture Working Group, governance cadence, and adoption of common artefacts, standards and frameworks.
* Lead the design and configuration of a centralised Enterprise Architecture repository, including taxonomy and classification models, and pilot priority artefacts such as application and technology inventories.
* Partner with Cyber Security Architecture to embed security by design requirements into enterprise architecture standards, patterns and delivery gates, including security controls, logging and monitoring expectations.
* Work with Enterprise Infrastructure domain teams to incorporate domain constraints and patterns into reference architectures and design standards.
* Collaborate with Operations and Service Delivery teams to ensure solutions are operable by design, including early definition and validation of monitoring, runbooks, escalation models and readiness requirements prior to transition to run.
* Provide authoritative architecture guidance to project teams, contractors and vendors, ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture, cyber standards, and project and operational governance requirements.
* Support audit, assurance and compliance activities by ensuring architecture standards, design artefacts and decisions are documented, accessible and aligned with organisational policies and change processes.
* Lead and develop architecture and senior engineering capability, promote continuous improvement, maintain awareness of emerging technologies and practices, and model TAFE Queensland values in all aspects of the role.
* Maintain current knowledge of platform technologies, trends, and best practices to inform strategic decisions.
* Model and promote TAFE Queensland's values: Safety First, Working Together, Focusing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility, and Showing Initiative.

How You Will Be Assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

* Demonstrated and applied knowledge of operational frameworks, methodologies and disciplines that enable continuity of services and continuous improvement in line with broader objectives.
* Demonstrated experience establishing and governing architecture standards, reference designs and design assurance processes in complex ICT environments.
* Proven ability to influence and align peer teams and stakeholders without relying on direct line management authority.
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, including the ability to identify architectural gaps and practical uplift pathways.
* Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‐technical audiences.
* Demonstrated ability to build a high‐performance culture that values contributions, is honest and considerate, and sets clear expectations.

Highly Desirable Requirements

* Tertiary qualification in Information and Communications Technology or demonstrated equivalent experience is highly regarded.
* Significant experience in enterprise infrastructure and enterprise architecture roles.
* You will possess experience dealing with external service providers and working in a diverse environment(s) including but not limited to On‐premise Infrastructure / Locations (data centre & remote locations) and externally hosted/cloud services models.
* IT Service Management (ITSM) including Incident, Change, Problem and Release management.
* Experience operating or establishing architecture governance forums, design authorities, or architecture review practices.
* Exposure to architecture repositories, classification models, and enterprise‐wide frameworks to support portfolio visibility.
* Strong understanding of the relationship between architecture, project delivery, and operational service management.
* General understanding of or experience with Microsoft products and services and other tier‐1 providers.
