We are seeking Laboratory Assistants for our metallurgical services business in Burnie, Tasmania.
The successful applicants will become part of our busy mineral testing laboratories that strive to exceed customer expectations by delivering quality results on time, and by maintaining strong relationships with its clients.
This is a casual position however working equivalent to full-time day shift hours with the aim that this position will become permanent with tenure. The laboratory is based in Burnie, Tasmania.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform sample handling & inventories
* Perform sample preparation, including crushing, blending and batch grinding procedures according to ALS Standard Operating Procedures
* Handling and operation of various laboratory equipment
* General labouring and housekeeping duties
* Conduct various bench scale and pilot plant testwork under the direction of supervisory staff
These are physically demanding positions that require applicants to be physically fit, have access to reliable transportation and be able to work day or afternoon shift as required.
Applicants with previous experience in similar laboratory or mine site roles will be highly regarded; however, training will be provided for successful applicants with no experience.
Requirements:
* Good numerical, communication, organisational and time management skills
* Be detail oriented, highly motivated and have an ability to problem solve.
* A moderate level of computer literacy
* Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
* A high regard for personal safety and the safety of others
