About the role
Salesian College Chadstone is seeking a full-time Horticulture & Grounds Maintenance Officer to maintain and enhance the beautiful gardens and grounds of our college campus in Chadstone, Victoria. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the ongoing care and upkeep of our extensive landscaping, ensuring the college presents an inviting and well maintained environment for our students, staff, and visitors.
What you will be doing
* Undertaking a range of horticultural duties such as mowing, edging, weeding, mulching, pruning, and planting
* Maintaining the health and appearance of lawns, garden beds, pathways, and other landscaped areas
* Assisting with the implementation of sustainable gardening practices and water management strategies
* Identifying and addressing any maintenance or safety concerns across the grounds
* Collaborating with the facilities team to coordinate projects and respond to the evolving needs of the college
* Ensuring all work is carried out to a high standard, in a safe and efficient manner
What we are looking for
* Formal qualifications in horticulture and equivalent experience
* Demonstrated experience in grounds maintenance and gardening, ideally within an education or commercial setting
* Strong practical skills and knowledge of horticultural best practices
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Commitment to providing outstanding customer service and creating a welcoming environment
* Ability to navigate occasional physical demands of the role, such as lifting and operating machinery
