**Position Description Field Supervisor Civil Services**
**Purpose**
The Field Supervisor for Civil Services encompasses leadership, planning and management
of civil works activities within Council. This individual will be responsible in providing clear
direction and support to Civil Services outdoor employees through ongoing motivation and
collaboration.
The primary objective of this position is to deliver works in a safe, efficient and cost-effective
manner to ensure value for money for ratepayers. The role will have a focus on improving
capability and capacity in Civil Services with a commitment to work towards a long-term
community vision of delivering the best service in response to local needs.
This role will provide opportunities in positive and energetic leadership and teamwork
across the organisation.
Strong communication skills and ability to maintain solid relationships with internal and
external stakeholders will be vital to this role.
As a leader of the organisation you will have the customer, community and safety at the
forefront of all you do, to provide the highest level of service both externally and internally.
**Key Deliverables**
- Lead the development of efficient weekly, fortnightly and monthly programmes.
- Track and record performance of crews in terms of time, cost, quality and
productivity. This may require developing systems to suit the specific needs of a crew
or work activity.
- Contribute to the annual planning, scoping, and costing of works. Provide information
and advice on matters relative to the Civil works area.
- Demonstrate sound understanding of maintenance, renewal and construction best
practice for civil related assets including pavement, surfacing, footpath, kerb water
channels, drainage, and other transport related assets.
- Regular update and reporting of status of works in progress, emerging issues and
provide assistance with policy development and proposals, providing appropriate
information and recommendations.
- Undertake scheduling and completion of daily works programs related to civil works.
Program and allocate resources to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of
services.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on progress of works against targets and a range of key
performance indicators.
- Lead and manage the work groups in delivery of all services and tasks associated with
the function.
- Liaise and maintain strong relationships and influence service improvements with
strategic partners and external organisations.
- Ensure that Civil Services operates within budget requirements.
