What You’ll do

The Manager External & Government Affairs – Northern Territory will play a critical leadership role in delivering Santos’ government and external affairs across the NT.

Reporting to senior leadership, this role is responsible for the planning and execution of NT government engagement and key non government stakeholder engagement to support Santos’ ongoing operations and future growth opportunities. You will work closely with operational, corporate and community teams to ensure a coordinated, strategic and compliant approach to external engagement across the NT.

This is a senior, visible role requiring strong strategic judgment, influencing capability and a deep appreciation of regulatory, community and stakeholder environments.

Responsibilities include

• Developing and implementing government and stakeholder engagement strategies to support Santos’ NT operations and growth initiatives.

• Maintaining a strong understanding of NT political, policy and regulatory environments and emerging legislation.

• Building and sustaining relationships with key political and external stakeholders..

• Establishing and maintaining networks below Minister level and support senior leadership in Ministerial engagements.

• Representing Santos at key external forums and engagements and support executive leadership, including the General Manager Barossa and NT External Affairs.

What you’ll bring

You are a strategic, relationship driven professional with a strong background in government or external affairs and the confidence to engage with senior leaders and stakeholders.

• Significant experience in government affairs, external affairs, government, or technical roles with significant external engagement.

• Proven experience managing complex internal and external stakeholder relationships.

• Understanding of — or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire — NT regulatory engagement and consultation requirements.

• Strong strategic thinking and problem solving capability.

• Ability to confidently engage with Vice Presidents, General Managers and senior leaders.

• Experience across both public sector and oil & gas, resources or industrial sectors.

• Experience engaging with First Nations individuals and communities.

• Established networks across NT Government and industry groups.

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Political Science, Economics, Community & Aboriginal Affairs, Business, Engineering, Environment or a related field.
