Job Role
A dynamic leader with expertise in public sector finance and governance is required to spearhead our Corporate Finance Unit.
The successful candidate will drive financial excellence and service delivery, contributing to the team's overall performance.
* Deliver strategic financial services across taxation advisory, compliance, financial reporting, reconciliations, capital and asset accounting, and treasury management functions.
* Lead a high-performing team, driving service efficiency and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and organisational policies.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation.
* Leading the Corporate Finance Unit, including staff development, performance management, and fostering a positive team culture.
* Overseeing capitalisation, asset accounting, and the development and review of the Long Term Asset Management Plan.
* Providing expert taxation advice and ensuring accurate compliance and lodgement of tax returns.
* Supporting treasury management, balancing debt and investment portfolios, and forecasting cash flows.
* Building effective internal partnerships and delivering tailored financial insights that support decision-making.
Essential Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles, corporate taxation, treasury, and asset management.
* Proven leadership in team development, service delivery, and performance improvement.
* Demonstrated experience in statutory reporting and asset accounting within a complex organisation.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organisational levels.
* Proficiency in financial systems and tools relevant to medium-to-large or government organisations.
Mandatory requirements include:
* Tertiary qualifications in Business or Accounting.
* Membership with CPA Australia or an equivalent professional body.
* Knowledge and experience in applying Australian Accounting Standards.
Bonus Points
Desirable skills include:
* Experience with Finance One financial systems.
* Knowledge of the Local Government Act 2009 and related regulations.
* Familiarity with the Local Government Tax Equivalent Regime.
