Overview

Do you want to be a part of a team that promotes and improves the health of its people and community? We are seeking highly motivated qualified Social Workers to join our Social Work teams at Wanneroo, Butler and Osborne Community Mental Health Services.

Positions Available

* 1x Permanent Full-Time appointment at Wanneroo Community Mental Health.
* 1x Fixed Term Part-Time appointment at 38 hours (0.5 FTE) per fortnight, with the possibility of extension(s) at Butler Community Mental Health.
* 1x Permanent Full-Time appointment at Osborne Community Mental Health.


What is our Social Worker role?

The role provides clinical social work services to consumers of the Community Mental Health Services, functioning as a case manager in a multidisciplinary team; is responsible for the clinical management of consumers and families/carers in nominated areas and consultation with other staff, consumers, families/carers and other services.

What are the roles?

* The Mental Health Services Dental Health Services (MHSDHS) Community Adult Mental Health Stream provides evidence based, specialised mental health services. The service is committed to working alongside service providers, consumers and carer stakeholders, to promote optimal mental health for those referred to our service. Each community team provides case management to ensure holistic health care while practical and achievable care plans are developed collaboratively with the consumer, family, carer and other services to promote sustained recovery. The consumer is supported to feel optimistic for their recovery and foster a sense of hope and their capacity to change is encouraged.
* The positions are all within Continuing Treatment Teams (CTT). The CTT is a specialist mental health service, responsible for the support in the recovery of consumers with a diagnosis of enduring mental illness who are unsuitable for care within other settings. The care is provided within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) environment. There is an emphasis on maximising recovery for the consumer, and discharge planning is a focus of treatment to encourage independence, self-empowerment, and autonomy.
* The CTTs aim to offer safe, contemporary, effective, high quality, responsive, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed services for consumers with a diagnosis of enduring mental illness.

* A Cover Letter (maximum of 3 pages) explaining why you are applying for this role, and providing examples to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and experience relating to:
o Knowledge and ability to implement a range of clinical social work interventions with adult consumers.
o Knowledge of psychiatric conditions, affecting the adult consumer and assessment of the effects on individuals, families and significant others.
* A detailed Resume which sets out your tertiary qualification in Social Work, eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, your capabilities, and your experience relevant to this position.
* References - the names and contact details of two (2) referees. It is preferable for one of your referees to be your current line manager. References may be sought at any stage of the recruitment process. Applicants must ensure their nominated referees are available to provide references when requested, as failure to do so may result in them being deemed unsuitable.


Eligibility to Apply

Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public sector. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract.

WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake a criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process. As well as undertaking a criminal record screening and integrity checking, you may also be required to undertake a working with children check (if required for the role) and a pre-employment health assessment. We may ask referees to comment on your integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour. Please note that adverse information does not necessarily disqualify an applicant but will be considered as part of the appointment process.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
