APS6 Senior Training Design Officer | ACT | 6-Month Contract
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced APS 6 Senior Training Design Officer to lead the development of culturally safe and inclusive learning solutions. This role supports workforce capability uplift and contributes to positive outcomes for First Nations people with disabilities through collaborative, evidence-based training design.

About The Role
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the APS 6 Senior Training Design Officer will design and develop culturally safe training packages aligned to strategic priorities and workforce needs. Working closely with First Nations stakeholders and internal teams, you will co-design learning solutions that embed lived experience, adult learning principles, and inclusive practices. The role supports project coordination, evaluation, and continuous improvement of learning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop comprehensive training packages and evaluation toolsApply adult learning and instructional design methodologiesCo-design culturally safe materials with First Nations stakeholdersDevelop facilitator guides, participant resources, and eLearning contentPilot training programs and incorporate feedback for improvementMonitor training effectiveness and contribute to executive reportingCoordinate vendors and ensure quality and cultural appropriatenessTrack project progress, timelines, governance, and budget requirements
Skills And Experience
Demonstrated experience in instructional design and training developmentStrong understanding of cultural safety and First Nations perspectivesExperience applying adult learning principles in complex environmentsProven ability to manage multiple priorities and projectsStrong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skillsCommitment to trauma-informed and inclusive practices
Qualifications
Relevant qualification in education, training, HR, or related disciplineCertificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) is highly desirable
