We're on the lookout for an Assistant Accountant to join our collaborative finance team in Sydney on a 12M maternity leave cover opportunity.

What You'll Be Doing
As part of a supportive and hands-on finance team, you'll work closely with the Financial Accountant and Finance Manager across everything from month-end reporting and reconciliations through to tax compliance, audit preparation, and budgeting support.
You'll gain valuable experience in a business that values continuous improvement and strong cross-functional relationships.
* Assist with month-end processing including cost allocations, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
* Support with Divisional and Group reporting and updates.
* Prepare and assist with tax compliance (BAS, GST, FBT, ABS surveys, and global reporting requirements).
* Maintain Fixed Assets, Lease, and Liability registers.
* Assist in preparing for financial audits (parent and subsidiary reporting).
* Partner with client service and management teams on process improvements and troubleshooting.
* Assist with Accounts Payable (AP) activities, including vendor set-ups and vendor management, raising purchase orders (POs), supporting invoice & payment processing, and troubleshooting AP related issues.
* Support forecasting, budgeting, and ad-hoc projects.
What We're Looking For
* A Commerce/Business degree (Accounting/Finance focus).
* Currently studying or planning to study CA/CPA.
* Experience with financial systems (SAP/HFM preferred) and solid Excel skills.
* Understanding of accounting, tax compliance (income tax, GST, FBT), and cost control principles.
* Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and commercial awareness.
* Great time management skills and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
* A collaborative, team-focused approach – but also able to work independently.
